Speculation has intensified recently over whether Capaldi will bow out with Moffat at the end of next year.
But that's all it is, speculation. Not even a rumour. Will he stay or will he go?

Steven Moffat has written in DWM that he has "no reason to suppose that [he's] writing out a Doctor" in series 10. So presumably Peter will stay on? - unless he makes a late decision or (more likely) Moffat is lying.

Steven Moffat has written in DWM that he has "no reason to suppose that [he's] writing out a Doctor" in series 10. Because he's writing him out in the Christmas Special?

Whoops, by "series 10" I meant the rest of his time on the show. The full quote was: "I have no reason to suppose that I'm writing out a Doctor. Peter is loving the role, and long may he do so."

Sounds like he doesn't know. Or rather, didn't know when he said this in August. Or, just as likely, he doesn't want to tell us. Saying Peter is or isn't staying is obviously a major plot spoiler this far in advance. But the quote does seem to imply that he'll continue in the role post-Moffat, without saying anything definitive.

But that's all it is, speculation. Not even a rumour. So you admit that your previous claim was misleading?

That Peter's going to stay on? You said that there's only been speculation - the showrunner confirming it is more than speculation, in my opinion.
Moffat would definiantly have known whether or not Peter was going to go in August. The series began shooting in June! Even if he hadn't finished writing the final few episodes, he would at least have had a plan. And I think the death of the main character would be part of that plan?

Moffat would definiantly have known whether or not Peter was going to go in August. The series began shooting in June! Even if he hadn't finished writing the final few episodes, he would at least have had a plan. And I think the death of the main character would be part of that plan? Didn't he have to rewrite a script or two after Jenna Coleman changed her mind and decided to stay on for another series? David Tennant almost changed his mind too, Moffat almost convinced him to stay for Series 5. Plans change, and they can do so at extremely short notice.

That's true, he could change his mind. At the moment, however, I think the plan is for him to stay.
