Can't say the Next Time trailer at the end of the last episode has filled me with enthusiasm... Here's the summary from BBC Media Centre:
That's right. "Sinister flower petals."

Haha. But the Not-Pyrovile-Monster's appearance means that "Co-Owner of a Lonely Heart" won't be a filler epsiode, like the previous two. So that's exciting!

Added "Brave-ish Heart" to the title, as this has been confirmed as a two-part story.

That story was another improvement for the series, I think. The plot was a bit better, although I'm not exactly sure what actually happened (or didn't happen) with the cabinet, etc. I think I'm just being slow.
The music - which hasn't changed much through the series - is quite good and deserves a mention.
But the problem seems to be that when the show tries to be serious, it often (but not always) comes across as lame. Bad writing and poor acting (mostly the former) cause this.
I will say that Ness generally has a good sense of humour, and the actors are able to say those funny lines in a way that is - well - funny. These parts are mostly humorous and very enjoyable. (Of course, the parts that are meant to be serious but sort of make you laugh... I think they come under the 'cringeworthy' category.)
There are many specific parts of the episode I'd like to analyse, but the freshest in my mind is April saying goodbye to her father - "for now." Simply, that was done well. No one wanted a 'happy ending' where the parents get back together and they're a nice happy family. It's cliché and it wouldn't have felt right. Nice ending.
